Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)
The Analytical Writing Assessment consists of one 30-minute writing task—analysis of an argument. It is important for test takers to be able to  analyze the reasoning behind a given argument and write a critique of that argument, the essay are given two autonomous ratings and these ratings are averaged together to determine the test taker's AWA score.
One rating is given by a computerized reading evaluation and another is given by a person at GMAC who will read and score the essay themselves without knowledge of what the computerized score was.
The automated essay-scoring engine is an electronic system that evaluates more than 50 structural and linguistic features, including organization of ideas, syntactic variety, and topical analysis. If the two ratings differ by more than one point, another evaluation by an expert reader is required to resolve the discrepancy and determine the final score.

Integrated Reasoning

In Integrated Reasoning (IR) which is a new section in the gmat  syllabus  test taker’s are tested  in the area of  ability to evaluate data presented in multiple formats from multiple sources. These skills being tested this section comes from the over 740 management faculty survey administered by gmac worldwide important for the incoming students.
The integrated reasoning section includes four question types: table analysis, graphics interpretation, multi-source reasoning, and two-part analysis.
In the table analysis section, test takers are presented with a sortable table of information, similar to a spreadsheet, which has to be analyzed.
Each question will have several statements with opposite-answer options (e.g., true/false, yes/no), and test takers click on the correct option. Graphics interpretation questions ask test takers to interpret a graph or graphical image.
Each question has fill-in-the-blank statements with pull-down menus; test takers must choose the options that make the statements accurate. Multi-source reasoning questions are accompanied by two to three sources of information presented on tabbed pages. Test takers click on the tabs and examine all the relevant information, which may be a combination of text, charts, and tables to answer either traditional multiple-choice or opposite-answer (e.g., yes/no, true/false) questions.
Two-part analysis questions involve two components for a solution. Possible answers are given in a table format with a column for each component and rows with possible options. Test takers have to choose one response per column
Quantitative section
The quantitative section of the GMAT measures the ability to reason quantitatively, solve quantitative problems, interpret graphic data, and analyze and use information given in a problem. The use of calculators is not allowed on the quantitative section of the GMAT. Test takers must do their math work out by hand using a wet erase pen and laminated graph paper which are given to them at the testing center. Questions require knowledge of topics such as arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. There are two types of quantitative questions: problem solving and data sufficiency. Scores range from 0 to 60, although they only report scores between 11 and 51
Problem solving questions are designed to test the ability to reason quantitatively and solve quantitative problems. Data sufficiency is a unique question type that appears on the GMAT and is designed to measure the ability to understand and analyze a quantitative problem, recognize what information is relevant or irrelevant and determine at what point there is enough information to solve a problem or recognize the fact that there is insufficient information given to solve a particular problem.

The education in America starts with the primary school and lasts up to high school. Students need to have a high school diploma if they wish to pursue graduate study. After that students can pursue a two(2) year course at the end of which they are awarded the associate degree or the four year undergraduate study at the end of which they are awarded the Bachelor’s degree. As a part of the admission process all students have to sit for the SAT or ACT test. There are many state and public universities from where students can pursue these degrees.
After the undergraduate courses, an individual may go onward to pursuing graduate studies or post graduate studies. Post graduation programs in the US are more specialized than most part of the world  thereby providing advanced knowledge to the students in their preferred field of study. The Master’s program lasts generally for two years. The Test Of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL just like IELTS
is a test of an individual's ability to use and understand english in
an academic setting.it really meant for those going overseas for
studies

 PURPOSE OF THE TOEFL CERTIFICATION

The purpose of the TOEFL test is to evaluate the English proficiency of
people who are non-native English speakers. In addition, international
companies, government agencies, scholarship programs, and recruitment
agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English proficiency.
The TOEFL test or certification is cbt based in nigeria. it also
combines many of the same question types as the traditional paper-based
test with new question types. This is an easy-to-use testing system for
even the most basic computer users in Nigeria and other parts of the
world

 INTERNET-BASED TEST (IBT)

 READING

The Reading section consists of 3–4 passages, each approximately 700 words in length and questions about the passages.
The passages are on academic topics; they are the kind of material that might be found in an undergraduate university textbook.

Passages require understanding of rhetorical functions such as
cause-effect, compare-contrast and argumentation. Students answer
questions about main ideas, details, inferences, essential information,
sentence insertion, vocabulary, rhetorical purpose and overall ideas.
New types of questions in the iBT require filling out tables or
completing summaries. Prior knowledge of the subject under discussion is
not necessary to come to the correct answer.

 LISTENING
The Listening section consists of six passages 3–5 minutes in length
and questions about the passages. These passages include two student
conversations and four academic lectures or discussions.

A conversation involves two speakers, a student and either a professor
or a campus service provider. A lecture is a self-contained portion of
an academic lecture, which may involve student participation and does
not assume specialized background knowledge in the subject area.

Each conversation and lecture stimulus is heard only once. Test-takers
may take notes while they listen and they may refer to their notes when
they answer the questions. Each conversation is associated with five
questions and each lecture with six.

The questions are meant to measure the ability to understand main ideas,
important details, implications, relationships between ideas,
organization of information, speaker purpose and speaker attitude.

 SPEAKING

The Speaking section consists of six tasks: two independent tasks and
four integrated tasks. In the two independent tasks, test-takers answer
opinion questions on familiar topics.

They are evaluated on their ability to speak spontaneously and convey their ideas clearly and coherently.

In two of the integrated tasks, test-takers read a short passage, listen
to an academic course lecture or a conversation about campus life and
answer a question by combining appropriate information from the text and
the talk. In the two remaining integrated tasks, test-takers listen to
an academic course lecture or a conversation about campus life and then
respond to a question about what they heard. In the integrated tasks,
test-takers are evaluated on their ability to appropriately synthesize
and effectively convey information from the reading and listening
material.

Test-takers may take notes as they read and listen and may use their
notes to help prepare their responses. Test-takers are given a short
preparation time before they have to begin speaking. The responses are
digitally recorded, sent to ETS’s Online Scoring Network (OSN) and
evaluated by three to six raters.

 WRITING

The Writing section measures a test taker's ability to write in an
academic setting and consists of two tasks: one integrated task and one
independent task. In the integrated task, test-takers read a passage on
an academic topic and then listen to a speaker discuss the same topic.

The test-taker will then write a summary about the important points in
the listening passage and explain how these relate to the key points of
the reading passage.

In the independent task, the test-taker must write an essay that
states, explains, and supports their opinion on an issue, supporting
their opinions or choices, rather than simply listing personal
preferences or choices. Responses are sent to the ETS OSN and evaluated
by four raters.

 INTERNET BASED SORE

The iBT version of the TOEFL test is scored on a scale of 0 to 120
points.
• Each of the four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing)
receives a scaled score from 0 to 30. The scaled scores from the four
sections are added together to determine the total score.
• Each speaking question is initially given a score of 0 to 4, and each
writing question is initially given a score of 0 to 5. These scores are
converted to scaled scores of 0 to 30.

 ACCEPTED TOEFL SCORES

Most schools use TOEFL scores as only one factor in their admission
process. Each univerty or program within a college often has a minimum
TOEFL score required. The minimum TOEFL iBT scores range from 61 to 100
Most centers conducting A level training also conduct TOEFL exams in

Experimental sections, which can be verbal, quantitative, or analytical writing task, contains new questions English testing service is considering for future use. Although the experimental section does not count towards the test-taker's score, it is unidentified and appears identical to the scored sections. Because test takers have no definite way of knowing which section is experimental, it is typically advised that test takers try their best on every section. Sometimes an identified research section at the end of the test is given instead of the experimental section. There is no experimental section on the paper-based GRE
In graduate school admissions processes, the level of emphasis that is placed upon GRE scores varies widely between schools and even departments within schools. At times the importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection factor.
